We want actionable error messages. Passive voice erodes their usefulness.

For example, “Failures were made somewhere in your CI pipeline” — passive, confusing, vague.

Instead, replace it with “Jenkywenkins made a whoopsie!” — clear, direct, active.

What if Military Weapons Expos were organized like high-end fashion shows, complete with a cat walk that each weapon system would have to awkwardly drive down, turn around, then drive back the other way while an announcer with a heavy French accent reads off the specs.

Kind of surprised by the people switching (or switching back) to Firefox this week and being surprised how nice it is. I've been on Firefox only on Windows for years and my work machines are usually 50:50 just to avoid even more containers, profiles and secondary installations. Never had a problem.

Been finding myself browsing reddit and the fediverse instead of going back to my feed reader and looking if I've missed some people's blog posts. Maybe I should do that more and also put some time to discover new stuff.

Having lunch with the TV on. There's a zoo show on German public TV. They're photocopying a snake.

Now we need "You Wouldn't Copy A Snake" in meme format.

i think a lot about how apparently, someone visiting pink floyd's studio in the mid-70s noticed they had several minimoogs set up with gaffer tape all over them, because when they got a sound they liked, they'd put the tape over the knobs so the settings wouldn't get changed, and invoice the record label for another fresh minimoog. i think this is how you're actually supposed to manage python software installations, just buy a new computer every time you finally get the correct packages set up
