I watched a youtube movie where someone scolded something for an engineered plot devices and I remembered how 5-7y old me found An American Tail stupid because of exactly that. I've not rewatched it in over 30 years but maybe I should and check if I've been rightfully mad since then. (I repeatedly forgot about for years, I'm not holding a grudge that long... usually.)
